MD1.2

Raster Vs Vector

Level 2 · BootCampMD1 FoundationsTaught week 2 Wednesday morning

Start the Lesson

By the end you can say pixels are paint and paths are wire and prove it with the zoom test on your own two files, make the same paper-sketched mark once in GIMP and once in Inkscape, export both at real sizes and say which survives the print shop, and call the medium for five real briefs with the file the shop or platform will ask for.

Start the lesson 58 moves in 9 parts. You need: GIMP and Inkscape, installed and logged in MD1.1 (or Photopea, if your install log says so) · your MD folder and FS4's naming rule · the sticker and signboard sizes from the whiteboard · your notebook and a pencil · your phone, as the camera

  4. Decision card: Five briefs called, defended in a phrase, with the file the shop asks for; row zero present
  5. Exit ticket + first daily post: Pair and test said back; one piece posted with what, where, when
  6. Clip of the Day: The Zoom Test: 3 as 2, plus: the squares appear in the first two seconds; the answer card names the file the shop asks for (PDF or SVG) and why; checked on a phone; one partner suggestion taken or turned down, with the reason written. · 2 15–30 s; upright 9:16, 720p MP4 under 30 MB; captions burned in inside the safe area; end card with the name and the label; the receipt line 'none used' filed; both zooms readable; captions true to what the zoom shows; the mark labelled Hand-made; filed by the Saturday update. · 1 not 9:16 or outside 15–60 s, the raster and vector shots swapped or unreadable, or no receipt line.
