Logo Sketch to Vector

Level 2 · BootCampMD2 Fast-Turnaround ProductionTaught week 3 Tuesday morning

Start the Lesson

By the end you can write a logo brief in five lines and judge every idea against it, fill a page of twenty hand-drawn thumbnails before you choose anything, develop three directions and pick one with reasons in the brief's words, rebuild your own sketch as clean vector in Inkscape over a locked, dimmed underlay, run the three tests (one colour, favicon size, signboard size) and write every failure under its version, and keep v01 to v04 under the naming rule with the exports beside them.

Start the lesson 68 moves in 11 parts. You need: Inkscape, installed in MD1.1 · your notebook, a pencil and a timer · your phone and its cable, or the route your SA names · your MD folder under FS4's naming rule · a brief: a real local business you know, your capstone client's mark if you have one, your own freelance identity, or a mock brief

What You Turn In

  1. Your paper trail, photographed
    1. Five-line brief; twenty thumbnails; three directions developed with one line each; your choice with three reasons in the brief's words — all by hand
  2. Final vector and your versions
    1. v01 sketch under glass, v02 live text, v03 clean, v04 final, under FS4's rule; final grouped, named, no strays, sketch layer out, text to paths; exports SVG, PDF, PNG favicon and large
  3. Test sheet
    1. Your mark in one colour, at favicon size, at signboard size; every failure written under its version with the fix
  4. Receipts table, label and method note
    1. The sketch critique ticked and struck; the variation round's spec, push-back, keeps and kills with reasons; the final labelled Hand-made or AI-assisted — directed by me; one doubt and how you would find out
  5. Trainer sign-off, if the mark is a real client's
    1. Logged before anything is sent; the handover note if it goes
  6. Clip of the Day: Sketch to Mark fill in on the hub
    1. 20 to 30 seconds, upright 9:16, exported at 720p as an MP4 under 30 MB (megabytes) and saved in your own Mufasa folder; the paper trail, then the vector, then the three tests; captions true to the test sheet; your name and the label on the end card; the Google Drive share link (viewer) and your AI receipt in Asha, never the video itself; it is the day's post

Stuck, or want to check your thinking? Paste this card into your own AI and ask it to question you, not answer for you.

How

  1. Asha, by Saturday's update.
Done when
  1. Paper trail: Five-line brief; twenty boxes filled; three directions with a line each; choice with three reasons in brief language
  2. Final vector + versions v01–v04: Grouped, named, no strays, underlay out, text to paths; four versions named under the rule; exports present
  3. Test sheet: One colour, favicon size, signboard size; failures noted with fixes
  4. Receipts + label + method note: Critique receipts; variation round kept or killed with reasons; honest label; a real doubt
  5. Trainer sign-off (client marks): Logged before anything is sent
  6. Clip of the Day: Sketch to Mark: 3 as 2, plus: the twenty boxes are the hook in the first two seconds; the favicon-size mark reads on a phone; one AI suggestion rejected with a reason. · 2 20–30 s; upright 9:16, 720p MP4 under 30 MB; captions burned in inside the safe area; end card with the name and the label; AI receipt filed; paper trail, then vector, then the three tests; captions true; labelled Hand-made, or AI-assisted — directed by me where a variation was kept. · 1 not 9:16 or outside 15–60 s, no paper stage shown, a test result on screen that the test sheet contradicts, or no receipt.

Counts toward: the MD2.1 badge, 1 to 3 stars · a portfolio piece and the capstone client's mark where it is one · attendance for the Taught and SGL (Self Guided Learning) blocks · LP (Lion Points) for accepted badge work.
