BootCamp

Level 2: eight weeks on campus with a rented laptop, shared sessions, two tracks and a joint capstone for a client.

Updated 24 October 2026

BootCamp is Level 2, for the top of each Mobile LEAP cohort. The learner is a trainee. Eight weeks, probably nine, with thirty trainees in two tracks of fifteen; the first cohort is running now.

Campus and the Rented Laptop

In the first week on campus every trainee builds their own machine, a Windows laptop rented for the programme; the trainee is the Renter, not the owner.

Course files live on Mufasa, the campus NAS, on mapped drives; it syncs to Google Drive, the fallback when the campus link is down. Work is handed in as a Google Drive share link, never a Mufasa path.

The Week

Week 1 is Set Up. In weeks 2 to 6 Monday and Saturday are shared, Tuesday to Thursday are track days and Friday is the Business Friday. Weeks 7 and 8 are the capstone. Mornings are Taught; afternoons and evenings are self-guided learning (SGL). A daily ritual opens the day, and each week carries one of the organisation's values.

The Shared Sessions

CodeModuleSessions
FSFoundations, week 18, from FS1 Orientation to FS8 Asha Putting the Loop Together
PPPersonal and Professional Development6, from PP1 Growth Mindset to PP6 Mental Health Check-In
BEBusiness and Entrepreneurship12, from BE1 Running a Project to BE13 Books and Cash

Most Capstone Core sessions run inside the capstone as short briefings.

The Two Tracks

SCS is Systems, Code and Security; MD is Media and Design.

The Platform Desk, open to both tracks, is where trainees take paid platform gigs; one can become a capstone client.

The Studio and the Capstone

Studio means where paid work gets made and finished, not where it is taught: the trainee's machine is the smallest studio, and work is finished and checked in the studio blocks after each Taught block and the Saturday resubmission studio.

The last two weeks are the joint capstone, the whole cohort as one studio: five teams of six, three SCS and three MD trainees each, each with a client. Mock clients are the default until a trainee lands a real one: a platform gig, a local business, the campus or a trainee's own business from BE3. The blocks run from CAP1 Launch, through two sprints and an individual Your Offer, to Pitch Day and Graduation.

Tasks, Badges and AI

The unit of assessed work is a Task, submitted in Asha, graded against the session's criteria and building towards badges. Lion Points (LP) are the programme's currency for work and attendance; FS7 teaches a trainee to budget them.

FS5 teaches the Director model for AI: spec it, direct it, listen and push back, verify, own it. Every piece of work is labelled Hand-made or AI-assisted, directed by me; AI-assisted work carries its receipts: spec, prompts and drafts with the trainee's cuts. Work a trainee cannot explain and defend fails the badge. Nothing private, and nothing a client owns, goes into an AI tool.

On The Hub

Each session has a page under BootCamp with the take-home card, worksheets and presentation; the Trainee Handbook is listed with the level. Each module has a coach prompt under Prompts for the trainee's own AI. Trainers find the session maps, facilitator guides, run sheets and TOT decks in the Studio section, the SAs the kit scripts in the Desk section; both need a Google sign-in and a role.
