Who Is Who

The roles at each level in plain words, and what each role sees on the hub.

Updated 24 October 2026

Each level has its own words for its people: Mobile LEAP has a crew, BootCamp a studio and a desk. This page names them and says what each opens on the hub.

Learners

  1. Explorer: a Mobile LEAP learner.
  2. Trainee: a BootCamp learner; rents the laptop, so in the materials is the Renter.
  3. Lion: anyone who has come through the programme; the Advanced Track's word, and the word for alumni, who read the hub like everyone else.

Mobile LEAP: The Crew

  1. Cohort Captain: runs a training location: leads the Guides and Coaches, staffs the sessions, and manages attendance, resources and payments.
  2. Guide: teaches their subject from the front, with two to four Coaches in the room; holds the room and makes the flex call.
  3. Coach: supports explorers on projects and assessments with the session's Coach Card, while training as a teacher and in a craft; files the Potential Watch-List, one observed line per explorer.
  4. Apprentice: student-teaches one cohort on the way to becoming a Coach.
  5. Evaluator: reviews explorers' work anonymously and promptly against the criteria.
  6. Learning Experience Designer: builds the session maps, slides and videos.
  7. Deployment and Optimisation team: supports the Captains across sites.
  8. Monitoring and Evaluation: runs the surveys and the reports.
  9. Training Lead: leads the trainers and plans the Training of Trainers.

BootCamp: The Studio and the Desk

  1. Trainer: the teaching staff, in pairs. The studio lead teaches, drives the room and runs the production in studio blocks; the account director owns logistics, the Asha queue, sign-offs, client contact and the one-to-ones.
  2. System Admin (SA): the campus technical team, at the desk: builds the laptop image, keeps Mufasa and the network, runs the kit scripts and holds the help desk.
  3. Training Lead: leads the trainers and owns the weekly KPI review with the Asha coordinator.
  4. Cohort Captain: the non-academic lead of a cohort: attendance, welfare, the ritual rota, arrivals, and the weekly Asha and KPI chase; filled by the Training Leads for now.
  5. Safeguarding Officer and deputy: who a trainee goes to when something is wrong; named in FS1, on the board and on each trainee's who-to-call card, with the Gender and Welfare Committee contact.
  6. Desk trainer and capstone lead: the trainers who run the Platform Desk and the joint capstone.
  7. Asha coordinator: keeps the cohort, its tasks and its badges in Asha.

The Hub's Own Roles

  1. Admin: gives roles; sees everyone signed in, every submission and the CSV downloads.
  2. Learner: anyone without a role, signed in or not; sees every learner page and can hand work in.

The Rules

  1. Roles are given per person on the Admin page by an admin; a person can hold several.
  2. Two need no giving: the admin addresses, and any learninglions.org address, which counts as a BootCamp trainer.
  3. Staff files are listed only to a signed-in person whose roles cover that level, and open on Google Drive, where Drive's own sharing applies.
  4. Answer keys and evaluation sheets are never listed on the hub.
  5. Mobile LEAP words and BootCamp words stay apart, on the hub and in the materials.
